Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s frontier revenge drama The Revenant has edged out George Miller’s post-apocalyptic thrill ride Mad Max: Fury Road to top YouTube’s Oscar Trailers Leaderboard, which measures the top-performing trailer from each of the year’s Best Picture nominees.
The Revenantteaser trailer posted by Fox last July currently clocks in around 21.9 million views, while the Fury Roadmain trailer posted by Warner Bros. in March has about 21.6 million.
Another survival story, Ridley Scott’s sci-fi film The Martian, claimed the No. 3 spot, followed by The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, Room, and finally Spotlight.
According to the Think With Google blog, trailers for the eight nominees account for the collective viewing of more than 3.3 million hours on YouTube — the equivalent of nearly 1 million Oscar telecasts.
Speaking of which, the 88th Oscars air Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC. See the full list of nominations here.
