This year’s green room for the 88th Oscars Ceremony will transport presenters and nominees to what feels like a late 20th century private home high up in the Hollywood Hills.
Built entirely from scratch and located just steps away from the Dolby Theatre stage, the room is meant to feel like “some place very familiar, and very American, but with distinct European highlights,” according to a spokesperson for Rolex, whose interior design team created the space.

The cozy main room is characterized by “warm but subtle tones of the walnut wood, beige leather and Venetian stucco” and features a wooden bookcase illuminated by recessed lighting. The shelves are filled with framed photographs of iconic Hollywood stars, like Marilyn Monroe and Robert Redford, as well as scenes from classic films like Zhang Ziyi in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Michael Caine in Get Carter.
Across from the room’s Burgundy-colored Maxalto sofa is the bar, featuring a mirrored glassware rack framed in bronze. Next to the bar, a floor-to-ceiling lightbox, “gives the illusion of a picture window looking down on a stunning panorama of Los Angeles.”

Past a “conversation nook” of armchairs is the room’s centerpiece: “A chandelier whose ring of long glass rods, fabricated by a master glassmaker in Venice, hangs from a a circular recess in the walnut panels of the ceiling.”
Past the main living room, a glass double door opens to an intimate den space. A large L-shaped couch faces a 65 inch flat screen TV housed in a walnut colored wall inset. Below the TV, a limestone shelf houses a series gas fueled flames.

At the back of the den, an assortment of tall plants and natural lighting gives the impression the room opens into an outside patio.
From front to back, the green room provides a classic and stylish oasis for VIPs to lounge backstage.
